Gregory Falkovich
Gregory Falkovich was born in Siberia, Russia, in 1958. He grew up in Chernigov, a small town in northern Ukraine. At 17, he returned to Siberia to study at Novosibirsk University. He began researching in theoretical physics while studying, in 1978. In 1981, he earned a master's degree in physics with honors and started working at the Siberian branch of the Academy of Sciences. His hobby at that time was being a part-time stand-up comedian. In 1988-1989, he edited an underground anti-communist newspaper and was briefly involved in politics related to the first free elections in Russia. In 1991, he left Russia to go to the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel, where he has been working ever since, from postdoctoral fellow to department head. Falkovich wrote his first book "Kolmogorov Turbulence Spectra" (with Zakharov and Lvov, published by Springer) in 1991. Currently, this is his most cited publication.
