Agustina Bazterrica was born in Buenos Aires in 1974. She holds a degree in Arts (UBA). She published the novels Kill the Girl (2103) and Exquisite Corpse (Alfaguara, 2017; Clarín Novel Award), which led to numerous translations, presentations at festivals and book fairs, readings in schools and at various events in the country and abroad; it was published in France, Finland, Germany, and England and will soon be in the United States, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, and the Netherlands, among other countries.
Nineteen Claws and a Dark Bird is the revised and expanded edition of the volume of stories published in 2016 under the title Before the Fierce Encounter. Several of the texts included here were awarded (First Municipal Prize of the City of Buenos Aires "Unpublished Story 2004/2005" and First Prize of the Latin American Short Story Contest "Edmundo Valadés", Puebla, Mexico, 2009, among others). Bazterrica is a cultural manager and curator of the Art Cycle "Follow the White Rabbit". She coordinates reading and writing workshops.
