He has published more than forty books of fiction, essays, and poetry translated into several languages. Born in Greece in 1938, he emigrated to Sweden in 1964, where he established his literary career. He has translated from Swedish to Greek major authors like Ingmar Bergman and August Strindberg, as well as from Greek to Swedish Yannis Ritsos and Mikis Theodorakis. He has received many awards for his work both in Greece and Sweden, the country where he currently resides. In Spain, he won the 2019 Cálamo Extraordinary Award for Another Life to Live. Subsequently, Galaxia Gutenberg published his novels The Siege of Troy and Mothers and Sons in 2020, The Past is Not a Dream in 2021, Timandra and Love and Longing in 2022, and A New Country Across My Window in 2023. In 2024, this same publisher will also release his war trilogy composed of the novels Peasants and Lords, The Plow and the Sword, and A Cruel Peace.
In 2023, he received the Gold Medal of the Fine Arts Circle of Madrid. In 2024, this same publisher will also release his war trilogy composed of the novels Peasants and Lords, The Plow and the Sword, and A Cruel Peace, awarded in 2025 with the TodosTusLibros Award for Best Fiction Book of 2024 by CEGAL.
