Buronson
Buronson, pseudonym of Yoshiyuki Okamura (born June 16, 1947 in Saku, Nagano Prefecture, Japan), is a Japanese manga scriptwriter known for his work in action and drama series. He started his career as an assistant to mangaka Hiroshi Motomiya and made his debut as a scriptwriter in 1972. His first major success was Doberman Deka (1975), illustrated by Shinji Hiramatsu.
His most famous work is Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star), published between 1983 and 1988, with illustrations by Tetsuo Hara. This series became a cultural phenomenon, selling over 60 million copies worldwide. Buronson also collaborated with Kentarō Miura on titles such as Ōrō (1989) and Japan (1992), and with Ryōichi Ikegami on works like Sanctuary (1990–1995), Strain (1997–1998) and Heat (1999–2004), the latter winning the Shōgakukan Award in 2002.
