José María Zavala
José María Zavala is a journalist, writer, and film director. Author of more than forty books on the Bourbons or the Spanish Civil War, he has worked for over thirty years in the newsrooms of the newspapers El Mundo and Expansión, and in Capital magazine. He collaborates on the program Cuarto Milenio, on Cuatro TV, and in the newspaper La Razón. But in his life as a husband and father, there is a before and after, since his tumbling conversion through the intercession of Padre Pío, of whom he is a spiritual son. Hence, his most beloved book, and the one that changed his life, is Padre Pío. The unknown miracles of the saint of the stigmata (LibrosLibres) with twenty editions in Spain so far and translations into English, Italian, Portuguese, Hungarian, or Slovenian. He is also the author of Así se vence al demonio and co-author, with his wife Paloma, of Un juego de Amor, the testimony of God's action in their souls through the mediation of Padre Pío. His book El secreto mejor guardado de Fátima (Grupo Planeta), already the best-selling spirituality book of 2017 in Spain, was preceded by the great success of Madre Esperanza, published in Italy by Grupo Mondadori, and more recently by El cuarto vidente de Fátima. He is the director and screenwriter of the films El Misterio del Padre Pío, the most watched in the history of the International Catholic Film Festival, and Renacidos, the most watched Spanish documentary in Spain in 2019.
