Gordon Neufeld

Gordon Neufeld is a Canadian developmental psychologist, known for his focus on attachment theory and its application in child rearing and education. With over 40 years of clinical experience, he has developed a model that highlights the importance of emotional relationships between parents and children for healthy development. He is the author of the book Hold On to Your Kids: Why Parents Need to Matter More Than Peers (2004), co-written with Gabor Maté, which has been translated into several languages and is considered a fundamental work in the field of parenting.

Neufeld has also contributed with forewords and collaborations in works such as Rest, Play, Grow: Making Sense of Preschoolers (2016) by Deborah MacNamara, which presents his approach to child development. He founded the Neufeld Institute in Vancouver, which offers training for parents and professionals in multiple languages. His work focuses on strengthening emotional bonds to foster resilience and emotional well-being in children.
