Jessica Roux is a freelance illustrator, author, and enthusiast of plants and animals living in Nashville. She loves exploring in her own backyard and being surrounded by abundant nature. Using soft colors and rhythmic shapes, she depicts flora and fauna with intricate details that recall the beauty of the old world.
She has illustrated for a variety of clients, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Pottermore, The New Yorker, The New York Times, Smithsonian Magazine, and more. Her debut as an author, Floriography: An Illustrated Guide to the Victorian Language of Flowers, will be published on September 15, 2020. She has worked on children's books, such as A Natural History of Fairies (written by Emily Hawkins, Quarto, 2020), A Natural History of Magic (written by Poppy David, Quarto, 2021), as well as many novels for young adults and middle grade for publishers like Penguin Random House, Macmillan, Simon and Schuster, and more.
