Andrzej Sapkowski (1948) is a Polish fantasy writer, globally recognized for his Geralt of Rivia saga. The Geralt saga, consisting of seven volumes, includes iconic titles such as The Sword of Destiny and The Blood of Elves. This series has transcended the literary realm, being adapted into film (Wiedźmin, 2001), video games (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, GOTY winner in 2015) and the Netflix series The Witcher, which has catapulted his popularity worldwide.
Sapkowski has been awarded five Zajdel Awards, one of the most prestigious in science fiction and fantasy literature in Poland, for works like The Lesser Evil (1990), The Sword of Destiny (1992) and Narrenturm (2002). The latter marks the beginning of a trilogy set during the Hussite Wars of the 15th century, showcasing his versatility as an author.
