Gerardo Caetano
Gerardo Caetano Hargain (Montevideo, April 30, 1958) is a distinguished Uruguayan historian and political scientist. PhD in History from the National University of La Plata, he has served as a professor at the University of the Republic and was the director of the Institute of Political Science between 2000 and 2005. Additionally, he is a member of the National Academy of Letters and the Academy of Sciences of Uruguay.

Among his most notable works are "La República batllista" (2001), "El Uruguay de la dictadura (1973-1985)" (2007) and "Uruguay I: 1808-1880 Revolution, Independence and State Building" (2011). These publications, framed in the genre of political history, offer a deep analysis of different key periods in Uruguayan history. Although no specific awards are mentioned in the sources consulted, his academic contribution has been fundamental for the study of politics and history in Uruguay.
