Gerardo Caetano
Gerardo Caetano Hargain (Montevideo, April 30, 1958) is a distinguished Uruguayan historian and political scientist. PhD in History from the National University of La Plata, he has served as a professor at the University of the Republic and was the director of the Institute of Political Science between 2000 and 2005. Additionally, he is a member of the National Academy of Letters and the Academy of Sciences of Uruguay.
Among his most notable works are "La República batllista" (2001), "El Uruguay de la dictadura (1973-1985)" (2007) and "Uruguay I: 1808-1880 Revolution, Independence and State Building" (2011). These publications, framed in the genre of political history, offer a deep analysis of different key periods in Uruguayan history.
