Synopsis "Army. the Evacuation of North Russia 1919: Presented to Parliament by Command of His Majesty"
The British War Office sent General Henry Rawlinson to North Russia to assume command of the evacuation out of both Archangel and Murmansk. General Rawlinson arrived on August 11. On the morning of September 27, 1919, the last Allied troops departed from Archangel and, on October 12, Murmansk was abandoned. This government 'Blue Book' was originally published after the close of operations to provide a full account of the measures taken and the military reasons for them. This is essential reading for students of the Archangel campaign.
