Synopsis "Aromatherapy for Animals: Introduction to Aromatherapy for Animals"
Aromatherapy is the therapeutic use of essential oils of various plants and flowers to help maintain a balance of health, physically and emotionally. Smell processed in the Limbic system of the human brain has the strongest recall of memory and emotions. Aromatherapy gained its popularity as an easy and natural method of stress relief. Certain essential oils, either applied during massage, added to bath water, or diffused in the atmosphere, can act as mood enhancers to make people feel more relaxed and confident. We now know, through scientific experimentation, that aromas exert an influence on the brain, and pictures of brain scans have shown this process at work. Aromatherapy is now widely used to facilitate the body's own ability to heal on the physical level as well. Aromatherapy must only be used externally with Dogs and Horses in such a way that the animal can come close to the smell but have freedom to walk away from the smell. They instinctively know what they need. You can NOT use aromatherapy with cats. Never use Aromatherapy Directly on the Animal or Internally.
