The collection began with writing the short story "Free Me!" written to honor Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela during his long illness in 2013. Colin won a place in the 2014 Writivism Class which included workshops and mentoring, and is meant to encourage African fiction . "Khoisan Horizon" was read live on the former Taxi Radio in Cape Town on September 22, 2014. "Souls Out of Egypt" was originally published as a three part series with O.T.H.E.R. Science Fiction magazine.
