Synopsis "Creative Practice Research in the age of Neoliberal Hopelessness"
Addresses the very notion of what creative practice research is, its challenges within the academy and the ways in which it contributes to scholarship and knowledge Explores the tensions between creative inspirations and the reality of having to produce work, which is also a contribution to knowledge that can be measured against governmental standards, rules and regulations Introduces the concept of tactical compliance and its implications for creative practitioners Includes reflective essays from film and media studies practitioners and researchers In Creative Practice Research in Film and Media, creative practitioners discuss their experiences and examine how to retain integrity during times of political and economic battles in higher education, and attempts to quantify creative work. It uses the notion of tactical compliance to evaluate whether and when creative practitioners compromise their creativity by working within the higher education system. It offers a space for reflection for both practitioners and theorists, and it presents a much-needed intervention, which will be of interest to all academics engaged with creative practice as research.
