Synopsis "Force of Nature"
What is divine feminine energy, and how can we channel it? Force of Nature explores this question through the lens of an African woman grappling with childhood, womanhood, cultural identity, and the societal issues that disproportionately affect women.This poetry collection parallels African women to nature itself, forces that can neither be confined nor defined. In a world where African women are subjected to societal expectations and forced to sequester their complexities, Odemi Pessu pushes back with love, light, and vulnerability. With lyrical lines, heartfelt verse, and tributes to social justice leaders, Pessu lets us into all elements of her life-from romance and depression, to self-harm and overcoming colonialism. Yet through the trials and tribulations, she perseveres and relays the message that women must take ownership of their narratives.
