David Hoffmann stellt die Synthese der ersten Niobtetrelylidinkomplexe des Germaniums und Zinns durch effiziente Salzmetathesereaktion vor. Beide Verbindungen wurden vom Autor IR- und Multikern‑NMR‑spektroskopisch charakterisiert und ihre Molekülstruktur im Festkörper durch Röntgenstrahlenbeugung am Einkristall aufgeklärt und diskutiert. Beide Strukturen weisen einen sehr kurzen Tetrel-Niob-Bindungsabstand und ein fast linear koordiniertes Tetrelatom auf. Die Reaktivität des Niobgermylidinkomplexes gegenüber kleinen polaren Molekülen wurde anhand der Reaktionen mit Methanol und Wasser geprüft und die Redoxeigenschaften mittels cyclovoltammetrischer Messungen untersucht.
