Synopsis "person county, north carolina, deed books, 1792-1825"
Katharine Kendall has here prepared a complete abstract of the oldest surviving deed books in existence for Person County. For each of the nearly 3,000 deeds abstracted in the book we are given the names of the parties to the deed, the amount of the purchase, a description of the location of the deeded property, the date, and the names of witnesses. In a number of cases, such as when property was deeded in trust, we are also given the names and relationships of family members of one of the principals to the deed, the names of slaves or free blacks, or more.
