This early work by Henry De Vere Stacpoole was originally published in 1920 and we are now republishing it with a brand new introductory biography. 'Sappho - A New Rendering' is a translation of selcted works by the Greek lyric poet, Sappho. Henry De Vere Stacpoole was born on April 9th 1863 in Kingstown, Ireland. After finishing his education, Stacpoole travelled widely, taking up a job as a ship's doctor. His time spent at sea undoubtedly inspired many stories and characters in his later writing. Stacpoole's writing career started with the publication of The Intended in 1894, but his most famous work is The Blue Lagoon, a romance novel published in 1908.
