Synopsis "Seven Years With the Spirits: Being a Narrative of the Visit of Mrs. W. R. Hayden to England, France and Ireland, With a Brief Account of her Early. A Medium for Spirit Manifestations in America"

Maria B. Hayden (1825-1883) is generally, and correctly, credited with being the first American medium to bring Modern American Spiritualism — the Rochester Knockings — to the United Kingdom, in 1852-3.This account of her time in the United Kingdom, written by her husband William Richardson Hayden and published in the American Spiritualism periodical The Banner of Light in 1857, provides the modern reader with a wealth of detail about that important trip, and the social and intellectual milieu within which the Haydens moved. This edition of Seven Years with the Spirits is transcribed verbatim from the pages of The Banner of Light, edited and annotated by Marc Demarest, the executive director of the International Association for the Preservation of Spiritualist and Occult Periodicals (IAPSOP).
