The lectures, from 1843 and early 1844, set forth the causes which brought the Pilgrims to the New World. To better understand what the Puritans endured and accomplished, Hall recounts their history and times, exhibits their sufferings, and traces them in their wanderings until they arrive upon the, then desolate, shores of New England.
