Synopsis "Above Every Other Desire: A History of Johnson University, 1893-2018"
Johnson University is a private, Christian, co-educational university with its main campus located six miles southeast of Knoxville, Tennessee, and a second campus in Kissimmee, Florida. For 125 years, Johnson University has been educating students for Christian ministries and other strategic vocations framed by the Great Commission in order to extend the kingdom of God among all nations. Dr. Tommy Smith tells this compelling story of Johnson University's commitment to faith, prayer and work in an updated and expanded edition of his earlier work. A native of Hampton, Tennessee, Dr. Smith has completed academic degrees from Johnson University (B.A.), Emmanuel Christian Seminary (M.A.R.), and the University of Tennessee (PhD). He has served Johnson University since 1989 in various roles including Professor of History and Theology, Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, and Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs. He will become the seventh president of Johnson University on July 1, 2018.
