Synopsis "Ascension Theology and Habakkuk: A Reformed Ecclesiology in Filipino American Perspective (Asian Christianity in the Diaspora)"
This book describes Reformed ecclesiology through the lived faith of the Filipino American Christian diaspora. It proposes a contextual, constructive ecclesiology by engaging with the Presbyterian/Reformed theological tradition?s understanding of the ascension of Jesus Christ with the Old Testament book of Habakkuk as a conversation partner. What is proposed is an ascension homiletic for preaching and an ascension hermeneutic that is sacramental in reading Scriptures. It lifts up the struggle of Filipino American Christian diaspora as hope-filled, hopeful risk in their service to build fellowship among the diaspora, while bridging their lives and faith with the American culture and that of the Philippines.
