Desde que Miguel Ángel Curiel fue áccesit del premio Adonais en 2000, su obra poética se ha ido apartando de las tendencias poéticas dominantes, hasta desarrollar una voz poética original e inusual en la poesía española actual.Fue finalista del premio Nacional de Poesía 2013 con el Agua, y en 2018 con El Nadador, y del premio de la crítica 2019 con Jaraíz.
