Synopsis "history of berks county, pennsylvania, in the revolution, from 1774 to 1783"
Based upon research in the Pennsylvania Archives and in records in the offices of the Register and Recorder of Berks County, this volume is arranged in two parts (books). Book I delineates all aspects of Berks County participation in the conflict, including the patriotic mood in 1774, the county's Associators, the various Berks County militia companies and their campaigns (with militia rolls), prisoners of war, matters of supply, proclamations, estimates of men in service, and Berks County and American Independence. The more than fifty biographical sketches in Book II focus on the individual's participation in the war and, in most cases, furnish the names of the participant's spouse(s) and children.
