作者以科研的眼光和愛好文學的心，寫出她對社會眾生相的領悟。充分展現異國生活奮鬥愛情夢想逸趣溫馨和平等各層面的希望。讀本書可以分享大自然生生不息的氣息﹐有如萬鼓齊鳴﹐天地共振﹐擊出貝多芬《命運交響曲》般的震盪。龔則韞，籍貫福建省晉江縣﹐生在台灣﹐長在台灣，現住於馬里蘭州波多馬克城。美國加州大學柏克萊分校環境衛生科學與毒理學博士。曾任美國國防部陸軍研究總署細胞剉傷科副主任﹐現任美國國防醫科大學醫科和輻射生物科正教授﹐美國健康總署的科研計劃書審核員。計有150多篇英文科研著作﹐獲「亨利克利斯鼎紀念獎」(兩次)、「美國陸軍部科研成就獎」、「美國國防部女性科技楷模」及多項其它獎章﹐擁有二項發明專利。業餘喜閱讀、寫作、音樂、旅行、烹飪。現是北美華文作家協會華府分會會長、海外華文女作家協會的會員﹔北美素友會的會員、珀多瑪克城讀書會會員; 曾是前華府中美交響樂團的大提琴手和當地合唱團的女高音。一九九八年應邀演出曹禺名舞台劇《雷雨》中的繁漪。以英文現代詩分獲美國國家詩學圖書館的「一九九七年編輯選拔獎」和美國名詩人協會的「一九九八年表揚獎」及「二000年表揚獎」。以本書中的及其它七篇小說獲「二00二年華文著述獎」﹐另以 (原名為路是這樣走過來的) 得到「二00四年美華商報小說二等獎」。她說「我最喜歡寫作﹐從來不是為了消遣或娛樂﹐自始至終﹐寫作帶給我善良、崇高、勇敢﹐邁向高山仰止的境界﹐我藉寫作來完善自己的人格﹐安置自己的靈魂。」中文著作有《荷花夢》、《種瓜得瓜種豆得豆 - 遺傳學之父孟德爾》、《雀鳥與蘭花 - 達爾文》、《十大排毒抗癌蔬果》、《你吃對維他命了嗎?》、《不會生病的吃法》。
