Synopsis "El Baile de Las Locas / The Mad Women's Ball (in Spanish)"

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION "An historical novel about psychiatric experiments on women that has shocked French society. We're in Paris in 1885. As it happens every year, during the middle of Lent, the popular spring dance is held at the Hospital de la Salpêtrière, where during one night the cream of Paris society is channeled in, to the rhythm of waltzes and polkas, with the company of the residents, dressed in the most extravagant costumes. A festive evening that, deep down, hides a sordid reality: dancing is just one of the last experiments of Professor Charcot, determined to turn the Salpêtrière patients into women like the rest. Thanks to the refined writing of Victoria Mas and an admirable historical reconstruction, her first novel, terrible but powerful, has become a hymn of freedom in honor of all women.
