ENGLISH DESCRIPTION The experiences and relationships of the legendary German explorer and naturalist, Alexander von Humboldt. After a long stay in South America, a 34-year-old Humboldt sets out on a voyage to Mexico, accompanied by the French botanist Aimé Bonpland and a handsome young Ecuadorian named Carlos de Montúfar. The journeys to Acapulco, Mexico City, and the states of Hidalgo, Guanajuato, Michoacán, and Veracruz intertwine with the naturalist's experiences, impressions, and memories. Parallel to this New Spanish past, we find a link to our present, where an investigator surprisingly and suspiciously unearths intimate details about the celebrity that will revive an idea that has been hidden away for centuries.
