"消亡三篇"第一篇《从来没有现在的时光》描述的是一个在自己的时间轴里没有"现在"这一刻度的男孩。第二篇《死亡缺席的黄昏》描述了一个从北方回来的自暴自弃的男人"我"。第三篇《终将迷失的信仰》描述了一个奇异的国度。"衔尾蛇三篇"第一篇《G小调的风》是一篇隐喻氛围很浓重的作品。第二篇《消失》描写"我"失去了自己的影子，曾经以"我"为影子的父亲死在了沼泽里。第三篇《不安》描述"我"生活在荒凉的戈壁中，某晚目睹了一颗星球没入了地面。《小镇与山顶》第一部分讲述"我"因为生意失败而来到山脚下的小镇生活，在酒吧误打误撞认识了大脑门先生，并与他发生了冲突。第二部分讲述大脑门先生和软耳根小姐之间的相遇和相爱。第三部分描述"我"在山顶的生活，"我"发现了写作的好处。《无处安放的语言》和《在时空切面中穿行的公交车》创作于同一个时期，分别讲述了语言力量物质化后的世界以及"我"在无意中误入了一辆在多维空间中穿行的公交车的故事。《重力越过白鸽》主要描述主人公"我"在失去了唯一可以交流的好友"她"之后，独自生活在径直朝宇宙深处生长的植物上的洞穴里。《在长廊中行走》分为三个段落：洞穴与花朵、巷子与面具、硬块与表达。主人公"我"对"洞穴"的恐惧与生俱来，并警告人们切勿进入"洞穴"，然而别人根本不屑一顾。《囚楼荒火》讲述了我在一栋只有进口却没有出口的大楼里的一间奇异的房间里生活，同时还有"我"和黑猫陪伴我。
