The Agribusiness Capital of the cerrado of Piauí, but it was not always so. Until the early 1990s, the place had only an agricultural potential. It was this perspective that attracted a legion of gauchos to the region. Bom Jesus is growing economically due to the expansion in the agricultural area of the region, but its population is very fluctuating, depending on the agricultural harvest. Currently the Municipality of Bom Jesus PI has an estimated population of 25. 387 inhabitants according to data from IBGE. It has a bus station and a public hospital, besides one of the biggest commercial centers in the south of the state. The city has a quality hotel network and is used to receiving visitors from all over Brazil. We can say that Bom Jesus is the biggest university town in the South of Piauí and surroundings, it has two public universities, the Federal University of Piauí (UFPI) and the State University of Piauí (UESPI), besides several private colleges. The city breathes progress. Located in a privileged geographical area, the economy is driven by trade and services, mostly as a result of advances in agribusiness.
