Galicia y, en concreto, la ciudad de Orense se distinguieron de forma especial por difundir por todo el país el pensamiento del benedictino ilustrado, hasta el punto de que en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX las publicaciones gallegas superaron en importancia a las del resto de España. Esta corriente de afecto se mantuvo, al menos, hasta la segunda mitad del siglo XX, cuando otras efemérides vitales del benedictino sirvieron como justificación para realizar nuvos estudios sobre su pensamiento y su importancia en el contexto cultural español.
