Synopsis "Beaten Men and Violent Women: The Hidden Truth About Domestic Violence in Australia"

First of all I want to say that in no way do I want to make light of the impact of Domestic Violence on women in our society but at least twenty five percent (25%) of the victims of domestic violence are men. One quarter of the total victims, and yet we hear nothing about them. No media coverage, not much mention in all the various Government publications and reports and certainly none in relation to meaningful assistance for these forgotten victims. Why not? In 2017 there was a reported 546,000+ men Australia wide who suffered violence at the hands of their female partners. (Government figures). It seems as if they are purposefully being overlooked. Hidden behind a dark curtain. Again, why? This book was written in an attempt to shed some light on the problem and offer some informed opinion on the subject of male victims of domestic violence and why they are being ignored by both society and the Government. They receive very little assistance other than a telephone consultation, are often blamed for the violence they themselves have suffered and, on the say so of their partner, can be banned from contact with their children. Their plight is an invidious scourge and an indictment of the various Australian Governments which have actively ignored the situation in spite of all the available evidence. I hope the situation will be redressed in the foreseeable future.
