Synopsis "Biochemical and Molecular Evaluation of Groundnut"

Groundnut kernels are affordable energy rich food, owing to its high content of oil, protein and carbohydrate. Nutritional and anti-nutritional compounds are largely studied in matured kernels but there is dearth of information on effect of maturity stages and water deficit stress on nutritional and anti-nutritional compounds of groundnut kernels. Therefore, determination of these compounds and expression of various genes involved in biosynthesis of these nutritional and anti-nutritional compounds under water deficit stress were analyzed to understand relationship among various compounds at different maturity stages. This study was investigated for the evaluation of nutritional and anti-nutritional compounds in groundnut kernels of GJG-22 and TG-37A verities at various pod development stages during moisture deficit condition. Groundnut crop was sown in 2 set, one set was kept as control and another set was used for water deficit condition.Irrigation was withheld for 15 days before each stage of sampling (i.e. 90, 105, and 120 day after sowing: DAS). Kernels of GJG-22 and TG-37A varieties of groundnut were taken from control and water deficit stress condition at 90, 105 and 120 DAS.
