Peace can be promoted and achieved in various ways and from the most heterogeneous environments and ideals. The Nobel Peace Prize, established in 1901, has made it possible to give visibility to commendable women concerned and committed to the defense of democracy, disarmament, the non-violent resolution of conflicts, understanding between peoples and religions, social justice, civil and human rights, the environment, assistance to the least favored on Earth, jihadist terrorism by the Taliban and the Islamic State, the universal education of girls and the trafficking and sexual slavery of women as a weapon of war. These pages contain the stories of each of the seventeen women who, so far, have won this award and who are authentic references for their great potential and contribution to all these causes. A necessary book to motivate us in its knowledge, to delve into some of the events that have marked the twentieth century, and the first decades of the XXI, claim the leading role of all of them in them and, ultimately, recognize their contribution and legacy to world pacifism.
