A period of transition lasted two decades - until he met with a surprise that changed his life. In 2006, he found the Spirit writings received by James Padgett. Investigations of these writings helped Joseph to understand why he left the Church, and why he felt joy while reading the spirit-mortal communications recorded by Padgett.
