John Parker, a sus quince años sufre un cambio trágico en su rutina al ser diagnosticado con una grave enfermedad que lo lleva a una insuficiencia renal terminal. Cuando Carlos Luis, su padre, al darse cuenta de que ingresarlo en la lista de espera para un trasplante podría costarle la vida al joven, decide conseguirle un riñón fuera del sistema, para lo que se instala en una cabaña en el bosque, desde donde tendrá que ponerse en contacto con un mundo que va mucho más allá de lo ético o moralmente aceptable -como la parte oscura de la internet profunda, la coacción, el chantaje y hasta el secuestro- poniendo en peligro no solo su estabilidad laboral y su matrimonio, sino hasta su vida.
