Partiendo de la biografía de dicha creadora, y del primer filme inspirado en este personaje, la poco conocida Io, Emmanuelle (1969), analizamos las películas de la saga principal, iniciada con Emmanuelle (1974), protagonizada por Sylvia Kristel, y sus sucesoras. También se dedica un amplio capítulo a su "reflejo" creado por el cine italiano, Emanuelle negra (1975), interpretado por la diosa del cine erótico Laura Gemser. Series de televisión, película que se aprovechan del tirón de la saga y las última entregas que amplian la misma tienen también cabida en este libro profusamente ilustrado a todo color.
