Synopsis "Equalty - Nahum: Mercy, Strength, Justice: Courting the Favor of God"
NAHUM, meaning "comforter", was an "Elkoshite", which references the town of his origin. "Elko" refers to "Alquon", being a city in the Samaritan province, of the Assyrian empire. It is believed he lived in the time of Israel's captivity by the Assyrians. "Elkoshite" is interpreted as "gathered of God." This book could be interpreted as a writing that defines the work of the Holy Spirit within the lives of those gathered of God. NAHUM is a book of writings that when defined by the "original thought" intended, become the soundings of Heaven's corridors, alive and anew with the desires of God for humanity, His Creation. IN much of God's Word, we note that God speaks about Himself. He declares WHO HE is, what He does, and how He does it all. In Na-hum, all three chapters explore the wonders of God's GRACE toward His Creation, when that creation seeks ONLY after Him. It is never a matter of what we call HIM; it is always about the importance of our knowing WHO HE IS!
