Have you ever told a joke or a story or written a poem on a card and someone said, “You could publish that.” ? After hearing this encouragement from my audience while I was the director of Boone Ultimate Alliance, I took them up on their challenge. I hired a brilliant editor, Judy Geary, and we embarked on the process of my first book. I wrote these pieces every week for seven years, except during the off-season (December-March), to inspire the participants, not only to show-up, but to learn from themselves and others through the Spirit of the Game of Ultimate frisbee. At first I bauked at the idea of a book of athletic poetry, but after putting this book together, I see that it is for anyone to enjoy. I hope Flicker will inspire you too.
