At the urging of her talking cat Heck, Fay findsherself playing tour guide to her longtime friend, Jane, a death witch fromAustin. As they explore the sleeping city of New Orleans together, theirfriendship flourishes and boundaries blur. They find more than they bargainedfor when a faery creature goes missing and they realize that not everything inthe city is asleep. Fay and Jane spend a few days in Austin to takecare of some witchy things, and to let the dust settle, in case theyaccidentally stumbled on something more sinister than a flighty faery. As things seems to settle in New Orleans, Janegoes missing, and Fay must look for help from an unlikely source to get herback. If she's not careful, Fay will lose everything she never knew she had, orwanted. Something smells fishy in New Orleans and it's notjust Bourbon Street.
