The name "Jesus" has no meaning. It was little more than a poor transliteration of His real Name, Yeshua, or Yahshua, from Hebrew into Greek. The Name "Yahshua" meant "salvation from Yah" (Hebrew contracted Name for "God") and this was what was conveyed to Joseph by an angel: "You shall call His Name, 'Yahshua, ' for it is He who will save His people from their sins." (Mt.1:21).
