Synopsis "In Quest of the Soul: Book Three in the "Keepers of the Stone" series"
"In Quest of the Soul," is the third and final book in the "Keepers of the Stone" series by R. James Scott. Book one, "Keepers of the Stone," opens in 1870 and introduces us to Clovis "Zorn," Zornugan, a veteran of the civil war who has turned gold prospector and is working a mine in the mountains of Idaho. When he hears a distant cry for help and rescues a beautiful young woman trapped in the snow he has no idea where it will all lead. We come to find out that the woman, Tara, is being pursued by men who have been sent to capture her and take possession of a peculiar pinkish-red stone that was a gift to her grandfather from distant travelers. It is later discovered that the stone has healing properties, as well as the promise of perpetual youth. From that point on an adventure begins that will span over a hundred and fifty years. The second book, "Guardians of the Light," takes them into the twenty-first century, all the while trying to elude those who would destroy them and steal the secrets they possess. In the final book, "In Quest of the Soul," Zorn and Tara, now the progenitors of an expanding family spend time with the same distant travelers on an interstellar Quest to harvest more of the stones from the debris field of an exploded star. Upon their return to earth, they discover that the world is in very perilous times and hovering on the brink of self-annihilation. They must use their knowledge and experience and their new friendship with an alien race to help save mankind. The books are humorous at times, romantic, heartfelt, warm, touching, and thought-provoking with characters plot, and dialogue that are well-developed and believable. The story is unique in its concept and leaves the reader wishing that it was really true.
