Al margen de los vínculos políticos con el grupo liberal de José Canalejas, el perfil que como aprendiz de intelectual muestra el joven Gómez de la Serna se caracteriza por la influencia que ejercen sobre él una serie de corrientes de pensamiento filosófico y científico.
