Synopsis "Jérusalem (in French)"

Pierre Loti écrit Jérusalem en 1894, lors d'un voyage en Palestine ottomane. Agnostique notable, il promène son regard dans Jérusalem et nous présente le Saint Sépulcre, la mosquée d'Omar, le Dôme du Rocher, le Mur des Lamentations ou la vallée de Josaphat. Il n'y retrouve pas la foi et critique amèrement l'aspect trop commercial des Lieux Saints et il en donne un compte rendu vibrant. Jérusalem est le deuxième volet d'un triptyque, les deux autres étant Le Désert et La Galilée.
