Synopsis "John Sharp and Margaret Blain Sharp Family History"
In 1802 John Sharp and his wife Margaret Blain Sharp, with all their worldly goods, and hopes for the future, departed Rawley Springs, Rockingham County, Virginia with their eleven children, and crossed the mountains for the "Wilds of Pocahontas County". The book documents the next 200 hundred years of the toil, successes, and the contributions of this family to Pocahontas County and the rest of the world. Chapters 1 through 3 discuss the history that led to John and Margaret's migration, their subsequent lives and ultimate passing. Chapter 4 sets the environmental and community parameters into which the Sharp family moved, lived and prospered. Chapter 5 is the genealogical histories of John and Margaret's children, punctuated with individual curiosities, accomplishments and downfalls. Fully indexed, the potential ancestor of the 6500 descendants and spouses included in the book is in easily determined. A major hope is that living descendants of John and Margaret will supplement this initial effort, leading to a much more robust and complete volume. This is strongly encouraged by the authors.
