El libro incluye textos cuya escritura se inicia al finalizar la guerra en Valencia y durante su dificil renacer en Madrid, con el relato sobre su procesamiento por el TERMC en 1943, y su paso por las prisiones de Porlier y Carabanchel, hasta ser parcialmente indultado y trasladado a Durango (Vizcaya). En su mayoría son notas escritas con estilo directo y cientos de dibujos de gran expresividad plástica, un relato excepcional sobre la vida cotidiana en la inmediata posguerra que al fin sale a la luz tras décadas ocultos en un altillo.
