This book contains 24 love songs in the Spanish language. All have been carefully selected for their depth and beauty and most come from the golden era of popular songs, 1925-1965. You will find songs from Spain, Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Argentina, Panama, and Venezuela. For each song you will find a reliable Spanish version (note that many translations on the Internet are inaccurate), a reliable translation and notes on the essentials: explanations of the grammar, verb tenses, and idioms plus interesting information on the composer, the recording artist/s, and the historical background and cultural underpinning of each song."Love Songs" was written to show readers the beauty and variety of these songs. It was also written for students of Spanish who wish to improve their accent, immerse themselves in the poetic rhythms of Spanish, expand their vocabulary and gain insight into Latin ways of seeing and expressing love. If you teach Spanish you will find the eleven pages of teaching suggestions useful. The format of the book is 8.5 by 11 inches and it has a coil spine which enables the book to lie nice and flat as you follow the words. You can listen to the songs by searching for them on Youtube. Google Youtube and in their search bar enter the title of the song you want to listen to. Probably several versions will come up, including the version that I mention in my book.
