Synopsis "Marriages and Deaths Reported by Der Pennsylvanier, a German Language Newspaper Published at Lebanon, Pennsylvania, 1868-1879"
Der Pennsylvanier was a nineteenth century German language newspaper published at Lebanon, Pennsylvania. It was formed by the merger of the Libanon Demokrat and the Berks County Zeitung, both German language newspapers. This merger took place in May of 1865, and Der Pennsylvanier lasted until the year 1880 when it was succeeded by another German language newspaper. Only a few issues of this newspaper could be found; however, they provide a record of 256 marriages and 253 deaths that occurred over 100 years ago in the Pennsylvania counties of: Berks, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh and Schuylkill. A full name index adds to the value of this work.
