Synopsis "Motif Index of the Child Corpus"
Das Child-Korpus englisch-schottischer Volksballaden mit 305 Balladentypen und rund 1.500 Einzeltexten bildet den gattungstypischen Kernbestand der englischsprachigen Volksballadenliteratur. Die darin enthaltenen Motive sind bisher nicht erfaßt worden.Im "Motif Index of the Child Corpus" wurden rund 150 Motive ermittelt, deren Vorkommen von 70 Balladentypen bis zu wenigen reicht. Dem paradigmatischen Charakter des Motivs als literarischem Versatzstück wurde durch die alphabetische Anordnung mit den entsprechenden Quellenverweisen Rechnung getragen. Querverweise eröffnen durch Spezifizierungen und Subkategorisierungen den Zugang zu inhaltlich komplexen Moviven. Die syntagmatische Funktion eines Motivs als Bedeutungsträger innerhalb eines konkreten Textes verdeutlichen Inhaltsresümees zu jedem Balladentyp. Dabei werden Varianten mit nachfolgender Angabe der ermittelten Motive berücksichtigt.
