My Long Journey in Baltimore is a collection of poetry sharing author Lawerence E. Mize's personal tales of surviving and overcoming obstacles. Mize grew up in Baltimore with a difficult childhood and alcoholic parents. He dropped out of high school and served in Vietnam. Returning home, he continued to serve as a police officer in the Baltimore City Police Department and spent fifteen years as a District Court Bailiff for the State of Maryland. Mize's reflections cover his life's events and experiences as a child, a man, a soldier, and an officer.About the AuthorLawerence E. Mize obtained his GED while in the Army. He has an Associate in Arts degree for general studies from Cationsville Community College. He has been married to his wife, Sandy, for forty-six years, and they have two sons, Lawerence Jr. and Nicholas. They are fortunate to also have three grandchildren. Mize served twenty-nine years with the Baltimore City Police Department, rising to the rank of sergeant and then retiring in June of 1999. In his spare time, Mize enjoys riding his bicycle, writing poems, and going to movie theaters to see new releases.
