Opinión política reúne casi un centenar de artículos de Jordi Matas Dalmases publicados en el diario El País entre 2010 y 2017, en los que reflexiona sobre el funcionamiento del sistema político, la degeneración de nuestra democracia, las desigualdades sociales, la crisis de valores, el movimiento independentista, las políticas universitarias y otras cuestiones que han marcado los últimos años. También se incluye un apartado de «opiniones sobre el opinador», escritas por políticos, académicos, periodistas, familiares y amigos, que dan testimonio del constante y fructífero intercambio de impresiones con el autor. Durante este periodo convulso, Matas Dalmases escogió y trató los temas con absoluta libertad; el último artículo, sin embargo, escrito tras el referéndum catalán del 1-O y que hacía un balance del intenso mes de octubre de 2017, no fue aceptado por El País. Dicho artículo cierra esta recopilación, que rebosa honestidad intelectual, compromiso social y actitud crítica.
