In the middle of the fourteenth century, a plague occurred throughout the world. This pestilence has since become known as the "Black Death." It is estimated that 60 percent of Europe's population died during the pestilence. During that period, a few books were written, the most famous of which were The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer and The Decameron by Giovanni Boccaccio.
